North Carolina has a higher abortion limit (20 weeks) than all of our neighbors except Virginia! That makes NC the go-to state for abortions in the southeast. In fact, after the Dobbs v. Jackson (3) decision (the overturn of Roe v. Wade) there was a 37% increase (2) in abortions in NC between April and August 2022. There's even a billboard on I-77 (4) promoting that “Abortion is Legal in North Carolina” in SC! Even before the 2022 Dobbs (3) decision, there were 31,850 abortions (1) in 2020 in NC alone.

Legislators have discussed reducing the 20-week limit to 6 or 12 weeks during this legislative session; however, only one Pro-Life bill has been submitted which is HB 533 the “Human Life Protection Act of 2023” (5). We must provide strong support for this bill, which will save ALL preborn lives.
